These Terms of Use and End User License Agreement (“Agreement”) govern your use of the Paused website (usepaused.com) and the Paused mobile application (the “App”), provided by For Future Me LLC, operating as Paused (“we,” “our,” “us,” or “Developer”), located in Rocklin, CA. Please read this Agreement carefully before using the App or website.
Acknowledgment
This Agreement is between you and For Future Me LLC only — not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”) or Google LLC. For Future Me LLC, not Apple or Google, is solely responsible for the App and its content. By downloading or using the App, you confirm that you have read and agree to this Agreement.
License grant
For Future Me LLC grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on any device you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use, as permitted by the applicable app store’s Terms of Service. You may not sublicense, sell, or otherwise transfer this license.
What this site and App are
Website. The Paused website provides information about the App, collects email addresses for waitlist, beta, early release, and Notes subscriptions, and publishes our Notes blog.
App. Paused is a mindfulness and decision-support tool designed to help users pause and reflect in moments of emotional impulse. It is not a medical device, mental health treatment, or clinical service.
Not a medical or mental health service
Paused is not a substitute for professional mental health care, therapy, counselling, or crisis support. Nothing in the App constitutes medical advice or clinical treatment.

Waitlist and email communications
Joining our waitlist or subscribing to any email list — including beta, early release, or Notes — does not guarantee access to the App, a specific launch date, beta access, or any particular feature. We reserve the right to determine access order and timing.
You may unsubscribe from any list at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
Acceptable use
You may use the App only for lawful personal purposes. You agree not to:
- Use the App for commercial purposes without our written consent
- Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App
- Reverse engineer or extract source code from the App
- Use the App in a way that could damage or impair the service
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
Maintenance and support
For Future Me LLC is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the App, as required by applicable law. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide maintenance or support for the App. For support, contact hello@usepaused.com.
In-App purchases and subscriptions
The App may offer in-app purchases or subscription plans processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). Their respective payment terms apply. For Future Me LLC does not process payment information directly.
If the App offers auto-renewing subscriptions, they renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your device’s App Store or Google Play account settings. No refunds are provided for partial periods, except as required by applicable law or app store policy.
Warranties and disclaimers
The App and website are provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
In the event of any failure of the App to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation with respect to the App. Any other claims, losses, or liabilities will be For Future Me LLC’s sole responsibility.
Product liability
For Future Me LLC, not Apple, is responsible for any claims you or any third party make relating to the App or your use of the App, including product liability claims, any claim that the App fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
Intellectual property
All content, design, code, and branding associated with Paused are the property of For Future Me LLC. You may not reproduce or use them without written permission.
In the event of any third-party claim that the App or your use of the App infringes that party’s intellectual property rights, For Future Me LLC, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of any such claim.
Legal compliance
You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Third-party terms
You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the App, such as your wireless carrier’s terms of service.
Termination
This Agreement is effective until terminated. Your rights terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any term of this Agreement. Upon termination, you must stop using the App and delete it from your devices.
For Future Me LLC may also terminate or suspend access to the App at any time, with or without notice.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, For Future Me LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App or website.
Governing law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts of Sacramento County, California.
Third-party beneficiary
You acknowledge and agree that Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this Agreement, and that upon your acceptance of this Agreement, Apple will have the right to enforce it against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Changes
We may update this Agreement from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App or website after changes constitutes acceptance.
