For Future Me LLC, operating as Paused (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy covers both the Paused website (usepaused.com) and the Paused mobile application (the “App”). It explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.
Information we collect
On our website
When you join our waitlist, sign up for beta access, request early release access, or subscribe to our Notes (our blog), we collect your email address. We do not require your name, phone number, or any other personal information.
We may also automatically collect basic analytics data when you visit this website, such as your browser type, device type, referring URL, and pages visited. This data is collected in aggregate and is not linked to your email address.
In the App
Usage and interaction data. The App stores your selections locally on your device — including the type of urge you are working with — to personalise your experience within a session. This data is stored on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Device and technical data. Through Firebase (see Third-party services), we may collect device identifiers (such as an installation ID), app version information, crash reports and error logs, and app performance data. This information is used solely to maintain and improve the App.
No account required. The Paused App does not currently require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use its core features.
Data types — App Store disclosure
The following reflects our Apple App Store Privacy Nutrition Label disclosures.
We collect your email address on our website only — never inside the App. Your email is linked to you and is used solely to send the communications you signed up for. It is never used for tracking.
Inside the App, Firebase collects device identifiers, crash data, performance data, and usage data on our behalf. None of this is linked to you personally, and none of it is used for tracking or advertising. In-app interaction data — such as the type of urge you are working with — is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
We do not use any data to track you across third-party apps or websites. We do not use advertising SDKs in the App.
Sensitive information
Paused is designed for emotionally sensitive moments. We do not use in-app interaction data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than delivering and improving the App. We do not sell or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. The App is not a medical device or clinical service. We do not collect clinical or medical information.
How we use your information
- To send waitlist updates, beta access invitations, early release notifications, and Notes (blog) content to subscribers who have opted in.
- To understand our early audience so we can build the right product.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the App and website.
- To diagnose technical issues and ensure reliability.
- We will not sell your personal information to any third party.
- We will not send you advertising for other products.
Email communications
When you provide your email address, you may receive one or more of the following based on what you signed up for: waitlist updates (notifications about Paused’s development and launch timing), beta access invitations (invitations to participate in early testing), early release notifications (priority access when the App becomes available), or Notes (our blog covering the topics Paused addresses).
You can unsubscribe from any or all of these at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
Third-party services
Klaviyo. We use Klaviyo, Inc. to manage our email lists and send communications to subscribers. This covers our waitlist, beta testing list, early release list, and Notes (blog) subscribers. Your email address is transmitted to and stored by Klaviyo on our behalf. Klaviyo is based in the United States and processes email engagement data — such as opens, clicks, and unsubscribes — as part of our communications. Klaviyo’s privacy policy is at klaviyo.com/legal/privacy. We do not permit Klaviyo to use your data for their own commercial purposes.
Firebase (Google). The Paused App is built using Firebase, a platform by Google LLC. Firebase may collect device identifiers, usage data, and diagnostic information as described above. Firebase data is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy. We use Firebase solely to operate and improve the App and do not use it for advertising.
We do not use third-party advertising SDKs in the App. We choose providers with strong privacy practices and do not authorise any third party to use your data for their own commercial purposes.
Your rights
You can unsubscribe from any email list at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. You can request deletion of your email address from any list by emailing hello@usepaused.com.
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the GDPR including the right to access, correct, erase, and port your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. Contact us at hello@usepaused.com.
If you are in the United Kingdom, you have similar rights under the UK GDPR. Contact us at hello@usepaused.com.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request deletion of your personal information; to opt out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information); and to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. Children’s Privacy
The Paused website, email lists, and App are not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with their information, contact hello@usepaused.com and we will delete it promptly.
Data retention
Email list data. We retain your email address until you unsubscribe or request deletion, or until we no longer need it for the purpose for which it was collected.
App data. Data stored locally on your device can be cleared by uninstalling the App. Diagnostic data via Firebase is retained per Google’s data retention policies.
Data security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International data transfers
We are based in the United States. Accessing our website or App from outside the US means your information may be transferred to and processed in the US. Klaviyo and Google (Firebase) are US-based services. By using our website or App, you acknowledge this transfer.
Cookies
This website may use minimal analytics cookies. No advertising or tracking cookies are used. The Paused App does not use cookies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Paused develops. If we make significant changes, we will notify email subscribers and update the “Last updated” date.
